Fun environmental education programs designed
to inspire students of all ages to appreciate and
take responsibility for the marine ecosystem.

Oceans Alive Marine Education is a mobile education program.

Fascinating live animals will thrill the students senses as they handle live crabs, sea stars, elephant snails, sea urchins and plenty more. Using live animals, exhibits, and activities we bring the ocean right into your class as an affordable and exciting addition to your curriculum.

All of our classes are run by our qualified marine educator who is a marine biologist with over 8 years of teaching experience both locally and overseas. She has designed each program for a "hands-on" learning experience which can be adapted for any grade level from Pre School through to Year 12 and tailored to fit teacher needs.

The programs are designed to meet the standard of any specific year level with scientific terms and more detailed information increased from Pre School to senior grades. We can even cater for adult groups.

Any size group can be catered for from a single class to the entire school, whilst still maintaining the hands on experience. Similarly any specific topics can be covered on request. Classes can be a one of experience or can be a series of topics over several visits.

Introducing Kristy Nash - Marine Biologist / Educator

Oceans Alive Marine Education is run by Kristy Nash a marine biologist and educator with over 8 years experience in marine science education. Kristy has experience both internationally and locally and can adapt classes to meet your requirements.

The business is based in Port Macquarie and visits throughout the greater Hastings Area. As a sole operator, any enquiries you make will be handled directly by the presenter Kristy Nash, so please feel free to contact her anytime.

Kristy has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Griffith University Gold Coast and a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Education from the University of QLD and holds a current blue card for working with children.

After spending several years working at SEACAMP San Diego, a well respected marine education facility in the US, Kristy returned to Australia and started Oceans Alive as a way to share her passion for the ocean with others.

Hands on education is the key component of our programs as we believe that students need time to explore and learn through observation and that science must be experienced to be understood. A display of live intertidal rock pool animals collected from local waters, as well as non-living artifacts such as shark jaws and turtle shells, will allow the children to learn first hand the variety and importance of different marine animals within our local area and how to conserve and respect the animals and their environment.
